LINTHICUM, MD, November 1, 2019— NFM Lending is pleased to honor Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Matthew “Random” Dunn as the NFM Salute for November 2019.

BM1 Dunn was a member of the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seal, serving from December 1996 to October 2006. He was part of SEAL Team 2 and SEAL Team 5 as a Sniper Instructor and a Basic Underwater Demolitions Instructor (BUDs). He joined the Southern California chapter of the Knuckle Draggerz Veterans Club in May 2013 and was elected Chapter President shortly after. On August 18th, 2013, BM1 Dunn was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident at just 39 years old.

BM1 Dunn was nominated by his club brother, Mitch Akers.

“Random was so humbled and cared about everybody. He lived his life to the fullest. He was a great asset and brother of the club. He will be sorely missed.”

CPO Kwiatkowski served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. During his tours of duty, he was stationed in England, North Africa, and the South Pacific on the USS LST 21.

CPO Kwiatkowski’s service awards include: American Campaign Medal, Europe-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Occupation of Japan, China Service Medal.

CPO Kwiatkowski was nominated by his granddaughter, Taylor Kwiatkowski.

“My grandfather, we call him Pop, is a 97-year-old WWII vet who served in the Navy for 4 years. He has so many amazing/inspiring/interesting stories from his time in the service, but my favorite is how he met my Nanny while in England. They were married for 71 years before she sadly passed away 2 years ago. My Pop still tells all his stories and is proud to show off his medals and other memories he has from his time in the service – even at 97 he can still recall so many little details. He really is an incredible man and we are proud to call him our grandfather!”

LINTHICUM, MD, October 9, 2018— NFM Lending is pleased to honor Hospital Corpsman Third Class Holden Hall as the NFM Salute for October 2018.

HM3 Hall grew up in small town Cameron, NC. During high school, he found success in the JROTC program, quickly excelling and earning leadership positions. At 16 years old, HM3 Hall joined his local fire department. He fell in love with the job and dedicated the next three years of his free time to helping the community through the fire service. HM3 Hall then joined the Navy at 19 years old and endured one of the hardest programs as a Corpsman. He graduated in the top of his class and spent the next two years in Beaufort, SC assisting Critical Care for Marines. HM3 Hall was recently moved to Jacksonville, NC to complete field medical training with Marines, in the event his skills are needed on deployment.

Now stationed in Jacksonville, HM3 Hall serves the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. He is still dedicated to his hometown fire department and spends every free weekend he has making the 3.5 hour drive back home to Cameron to serve his community. Recently, he worked four days straight during Hurricane Florence with the fire department, offering support anywhere he could.

HM3 Hall was nominated by his girlfriend, Alysia.

“I am nominating Holden because he truly is a one-of-a-kind person. His passion and love for serving the community truly burns inside him like ‘wildfire’. He shows up for every shift and puts in 120% effort with every moment. So many people love and adore Holden for how well he represents both Vass and Cameron North Carolina. He is a great role model and a true American Hero. He is also the love of my life and I could not have chosen a more selfless person to spend my life with.”

LINTHICUM, MD, July 2, 2018— NFM Lending is pleased to honor Personnelman First Class Catherine L. Clapp, USN, Retired, as the NFM Salute for July 2018.

Following family tradition and looking to gain work experience, PN1 Clapp joined the Navy right out of high school, serving from 1979 to 1999. Her father also served in the Navy, as well as three of her four siblings.

Throughout her 20-year career, PN1 Clapp served in New Orleans, LA; London, England; Arlington, VA; San Diego, CA; Pensacola, FL; and Naples, Italy. She held numerous positions, including: Education Services Officer/Enlisted Classifier with Personnel Support Detachment; NATO Coordinator with Bureau of Naval Personnel; Assistant Classified Documents Officer with Submarine Development Group 1, Det B; and Operation Deep Freeze Coordinator and Enlisted Placement Officer for Physical Security with Bureau of Naval Personnel, just to name a few. During her time on the submarine squadron she was the only woman on the team of 150.

PN1 Clapp received numerous awards and honors, including: Navy Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medal (3 awards), and Navy Unit Commendation (2 awards).

PN1 Clapp retired after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. She currently works at NFM Lending as an Appraisal Desk Assistant. She enjoys reading with her book club, volunteering at Concord Point Lighthouse as a volunteer lighthouse keeper and is a “die-hard” walker. She also occasionally works at the Maryland Science Center as an Observatory Assistant, operating the telescope and assisting guests.

PN1 Clapp currently resides in White Marsh, Maryland with her cat, Toby.

PN1 Clapp was nominated by Maria Hinerman, a coworker and the Marketing Manager at NFM Lending.

“I met Cassie when she attended New Hire Orientation,” said Hinerman. “In conversation, Cassie mentioned she was a Veteran and had served in the Navy for 20 years. Although she spoke briefly about her service, I was blown away by all that she had done and the places she had been. Even during this short interaction, it was clear how welcoming and kind she is.”

Born and raised in Coal Township, PA, CW3 Nicola is currently assigned as the Quality Assurance Officer for Submarine Squadron 7 in Pearl Harbor, HI, and is entering his 20th year of active duty service with the U.S. Navy. CW3 Nicola enlisted in October of 1997 as a Nuclear Machinist Mate, Engineering Laboratory Technician. He has completed tours on board the USS Harry S Truman CVN 75, USS Ronald Reagan CVN 76 and USS Carl Vinson CVN 70 (all nuclear power aircraft carriers); he also did a tour at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He has completed eight overseas deployments, and is slated to retire in May 2018.

CW3 Nicola was nominated by his cousin, Candy Belfield.

“Thomas is my cousin and friend,” said Belfield. “I am so proud of his accomplishments in the Navy during his career. He has given most of his life to serving our country, including time away from friends and family during deployments. I am thankful there are people like Thomas to serve and protect, and thankful to NFM for recognizing him.”
