NFM Lending sponsored and participated in the 5th annual Red Shoe Shuffle on Sunday, April 10, 2016. The Red Shoe Shuffle is an annual 5k walk or run around downtown Baltimore, benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore. This is NFM Lending’s 5th year sponsoring this event.

In addition to sponsoring the Shuffle, a number of NFM Lending staff members and their families participated, either as “Shufflers,” or as event volunteers. This year’s event raised over $290,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities is an international nonprofit that provide housing to families of seriously ill children while they undergo hospital treatment. The Baltimore chapter is located near many of the area’s hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, and more. The Baltimore Ronald McDonald House has been home to over 35,000 families since it opened its doors in 1982. NFM Lending is proud to sponsor this event, and to support this amazing organization.

This August, NFM Lending held a Back-to-School Drive to collect school supplies for children in need in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Throughout the month, NFM Lending employees collected new school supplies for children in grades 1-5, filling 50 backpacks with the school supplies required by the county, such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, scissors, and other school necessities.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools distribute donated school supplies to children who qualify for federal food assistance programs based on household income. In Anne Arundel County, over 14,000 students were participating in these programs in the 2010-2011 school years.

Since its foundation in 1998, NFM Lending has maintained a strong commitment to giving back to our communities. Each year, the company holds food drives for local food banks, collects care packages for our troops overseas, and participates in other charitable initiatives for charities such as the Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore, Habitat for Humanity, and more. For additional information about NFM Lending’s community involvement, visit www.nfmlending.org.

Another #NFMLending Support Our Troops Drive complete! Last week, we sent 100 supply boxes to troops stationed overseas. We sent two boxes per location: one box with food items, clothing, and items to help with morale (Nerf balls, Frisbee, books, magazines, small board games, playing cards, etc.); another contained toiletries, small over-the-counter medicine, and RuckPack energy drinks. We hope they enjoy the goodies and supplies and know there are people back home that care about them.

Caring for rescue animals requires a lot of time, love, money, and supplies. Throughout the month of June, employees from the NFM Lending corporate office and nearby Maryland branches collected items for the Maryland SPCA and the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS). The items collected were chosen from the rescue groups’ “Wish Lists” located in their websites. The wish lists included items such as pet food, dog and cat treats, toys, beds, and cleaning supplies.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the wish list collection.  It was a great success! Each animal rescue group received a wide variety of items from their list, and was extremely grateful for the donations. We hope we helped lots of dogs and cats have an easier transition to their new forever homes.

At NFM Lending, we pride ourselves in servicing our clients and giving back to the communities we live and work in. As part of NFM’s culture, it’s employees are dedicated to volunteering at many charitable organizations that the company is involved with, along with charities they are personally connected to. NFM would like to recognize Denise Bennett, Production Lead at NFM’s Corporate Office in Linthicum, Maryland. Denise continuously volunteers for great causes and charity events that are important and close to her. This year alone, Denise has been involved in multiple events.

SPCA Walk and Run for the Animals

On March 8, 2014, Denise spent her Saturday plunging into the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay for the Maryland Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. She had a great time and even challenged her co-workers to join her next year. On May 4, 2014, Denise participated in the 2014 SPCA Walk and Run for the Animals. Denise and her dog Mollie did the 5k walk where they were able to walk with other dogs, and even participated in the kissing booth. And finally, on April 6, 2014, Denise participated in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 5k Run for MS. Her husband’s cousin has MS and they participate in the walk every year, not just for her husband’s cousin but for everyone who is affected by the disease.

Polar Bear Plunge“I’m just so thankful and grateful for all that I was blessed with, a healthy family, loving home, and a few crazy rescued furries round out the Bennett clan,” said Denise. “It doesn’t have to be monetary, it can be your time, or clothing drives, or just listening; volunteering can and does change you. Whether is smiling faces or waggie tails and kisses, it really is a good feeling knowing that you played a part in changing someone’s life.  I highly recommend it.”

NFM Lending would like to thank Denise for her continuous participation in volunteering projects and events, and for encouraging her fellow co-workers to get involved more with the communities they live and work in. Denise serves as a great example of how every small deed, action or donation can help change the lives of those in need in our communities.

NFM Lending is proud to have participated in the 2014 Red Shoe Shuffle 5k Run and Walk to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore on April 6, 2014. This is the 3rd year that NFM Lending has sponsored and participated in the shuffle, and we could not be happier to have been involved. Seeing all the participants, volunteers, and even some of the families who have stayed or are currently staying at the staying at the Ronald McDonald House take part in the event was truly heartwarming.

The shuffle started at the Baltimore Ronald McDonald House, looped around the M&T Bank Stadium and the Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and finished back at the Ronald McDonald House. NFM employees that participated in the shuffle enjoyed great weather and cheers from local supporters, Baltimore City cops and firefighters, and even the Oriole bird and the Ravens cheerleaders. Some of NFM’s employees even had great run times!

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore (RMHCB) is a charity that provides a home away from home for families who have children that are receiving medical treatment from local hospitals or medical centers. The house is known for offering hope, compassion, support and love when families need it the most. NFM Lending is committed to giving back to our communities, and the RMHCB is our key charity.  NFM Lending currently donates a portion of every Maryland loan closed to the RMHCB, but we believe that attending the shuffle is a great way to meet the families of the House and let them know the community of Baltimore is there to support them.

NFM Lending would like to thank all of the employees and volunteers that participated in the 2014 Red Shoe Shuffle 5k Run and Walk, and invites you to join us again next year.

Yesterday, members from the NFM Lending Post Closing department volunteered to help feed the hungry and homeless of Baltimore through Beans & Bread. This is a soup kitchen program run by the St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore community services provider of Baltimore.

The three NFM, Inc. employees were able to assist in serving just over 200 meals, which were served restaurant style. Each person was seated and serviced a hot meal, drinks and desserts.

The volunteers had a great time and look forward to being offered to assist in the future. They also encourage others to participate in the program.
