Caring for rescue animals requires a lot of time, love, money, and supplies. Throughout the month of June, employees from the NFM Lending corporate office and nearby Maryland branches collected items for the Maryland SPCA and the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS). The items collected were chosen from the rescue groups’ “Wish Lists” located in their websites. The wish lists included items such as pet food, dog and cat treats, toys, beds, and cleaning supplies.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the wish list collection.  It was a great success! Each animal rescue group received a wide variety of items from their list, and was extremely grateful for the donations. We hope we helped lots of dogs and cats have an easier transition to their new forever homes.

At NFM Lending, we pride ourselves in servicing our clients and giving back to the communities we live and work in. As part of NFM’s culture, it’s employees are dedicated to volunteering at many charitable organizations that the company is involved with, along with charities they are personally connected to. NFM would like to recognize Denise Bennett, Production Lead at NFM’s Corporate Office in Linthicum, Maryland. Denise continuously volunteers for great causes and charity events that are important and close to her. This year alone, Denise has been involved in multiple events.

SPCA Walk and Run for the Animals

On March 8, 2014, Denise spent her Saturday plunging into the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay for the Maryland Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. She had a great time and even challenged her co-workers to join her next year. On May 4, 2014, Denise participated in the 2014 SPCA Walk and Run for the Animals. Denise and her dog Mollie did the 5k walk where they were able to walk with other dogs, and even participated in the kissing booth. And finally, on April 6, 2014, Denise participated in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 5k Run for MS. Her husband’s cousin has MS and they participate in the walk every year, not just for her husband’s cousin but for everyone who is affected by the disease.

Polar Bear Plunge“I’m just so thankful and grateful for all that I was blessed with, a healthy family, loving home, and a few crazy rescued furries round out the Bennett clan,” said Denise. “It doesn’t have to be monetary, it can be your time, or clothing drives, or just listening; volunteering can and does change you. Whether is smiling faces or waggie tails and kisses, it really is a good feeling knowing that you played a part in changing someone’s life.  I highly recommend it.”

NFM Lending would like to thank Denise for her continuous participation in volunteering projects and events, and for encouraging her fellow co-workers to get involved more with the communities they live and work in. Denise serves as a great example of how every small deed, action or donation can help change the lives of those in need in our communities.

On May 31st, 2013, NFM Lending’s Post Closing department prepared 150 bagged lunches for underprivileged school age children. The lunches were donated to St. Vincent De Paul’s Head Start Program. The lunches assembled were meat and cheese sandwiches, chips donated by HERRS, Apples donated by Lanasa Produce, homemade cookies from our local Bakery Specialist Krista Bennett, drink pouches, and mints donated by Chick fil-A along with an inspirational message of hope and love. The team did a fabulous job of pitching in and showing how well they work together as a team and how ready and willing they are to help others.

With plans to do this event again in the near future, the Post Closing department, named the event “Let’s Do Lunch.”
