LINTHICUM, MD, November 6, 2015— NFM Lending will sponsor the Philadelphia Chapter Little Smiles Stars Ball taking place on November 14, 2015. This event is a gala to benefit children undergoing treatment for life-altering illnesses in the Greater Philadelphia region.
The theme of this year’s Stars Ball is “A Night at the Oscars” and will take place at the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown. Children currently undergoing treatment for life-altering illnesses will be the “Stars” of the event, arriving by limo and walking the red carpet. The event will include dinner, dancing, a silent auction, raffles, and live auction.
“Little smiles works with local hospitals, hospices, and other like facilities to help kids with very serious forms of cancer escape their circumstances, even if it’s just for a short period of time,” said David Silverman, CEO of NFM Lending. “My very close friend’s daughter is a miracle survivor of a rare and deadly form of Leukemia. Not only did she benefit from the work of Little Smiles, but she was able to get a successful bone marrow transplant from her brother, and is now 5 years clear of the disease. It’s an honor for NFM to help this incredible organization continue their mission.”
Little Smiles is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit 501(c)3 children’s charity. The organization’s mission is to help children in local hospitals, hospices, shelters, and similar care facilities by allowing them to “be a kid again.” Working together with local professionals such as doctors, nurses, child life specialists, and social workers, the organization works to help bring “little smiles” to these children, giving them special event tickets, toys and electronics, pizza parties, and more.
NFM Lending is proud to support many local charities and nonprofits through sponsorship and volunteer work. NFM has also been involved in charitable efforts with AnySoldier, the Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore, the Maryland SPCA, and the American Diabetes Association, to name a few. LINTHICUM, MD, April 15, 2015 — NFM Lending is proud to have sponsored and participated in the annual Red Shoe Shuffle for the fourth consecutive year on Sunday, April 12, 2015. The Red Shoe Shuffle is a 5K race around downtown Baltimore to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore (RMHCB).
In addition to sponsoring the event, a group of NFM Lending staff members and their families participated in the event, either as “Shufflers,” or as volunteers. Bernadette Pearson, HR Director, was a volunteer at the event. Pearson has been involved with the Red Shoe Crew since 2011, and has been part of the Shuffle since the first event in 2012.
“The Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore holds a special place for many of NFM’s employees,” said Pearson. “We are honored that we are able to be part of this fun and meaningful event, and to support such an amazing organization.”
Race participants wore red and white striped socks, similar to Ronald McDonald’s, as well as red necklaces, tutus, wigs, and other accessories to show their spirit. Race volunteers and families stationed throughout the race held signs of encouragement, and cheered on Shufflers. Often, children who have stayed or are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House with their families attend the race. Families travel from all over the U.S. to participate in the Shuffle. Children, young adults, and parents who have participated in past Red Shoe Shuffles shared their triumphant finish line stories on the Red Shoe Shuffle website.
The race began in front of the Ronald McDonald House at 635 West Lexington Street in Baltimore. The 3.1 mile trail took Shuffle participants throughout the city, including through the Inner Harbor. At the finish line, sponsors set up booths with giveaways and activities for runners. In total, the event had 2,500 participants, over 200 volunteers, and raised a total of $345,000.
NFM Lending is proud to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore, and is thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this extraordinary event.

Did you know, the Tampa Bay area is the third largest in the USA with over 400,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals? The struggle to be in a hearing world is challenging. We take many things for granted when it comes to hearing, but the reality is that movie theaters, museums, amusement parks, grocery stores, public agencies, and other businesses rarely have accommodations such as closed captioning for those with hearing loss.
Please join NFM Lending’s Tampa Florida branch for the Florida Executive Realty Divots for the Deaf 2015 Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Hillsborough and Pinellas County’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community on May 18, 2015.
Lunch and activities start at 11:30am, Tee off is 1:00pm. The event will be held at the Westchase Golf Course, in Tampa, Florida.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to three Deaf non-profit 501c3 agencies:
• Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf (Children)
• Communication Access (Closed caption and American Sign Language)
• Association for Late Deafened Adults
• National Association of the Deaf

On Monday, August 27, 2012 four employees from NFM, Inc.’s corporate office ventured to Towson, Maryland to participate in the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of Maryland’s (NCADD-MD) Recovery Classic Golf Tournament. Jan Ozga, Chief Operating Officer, Amy Fitcher, Loan Officer, Jeff Corsiatto, Loan Officer, and Chuck Miller, Loan Officer participated in the event on the behalf of NFM, Inc. In addition to competing in the golfing events, NFM, Inc. was also a silver sponsor of the event. NFM, Inc. is a proud supporter of NCADD-MD and its mission to raise awareness of addiction and recovery issues.
The event was held at the Country Club of Maryland in Towson and featured various events and prizes throughout the day. For NFM, Inc., the day was highlighted by teammate Amy Fichter winning the Lady’s Long Drive event—on the hole that NFM, Inc. sponsored! Jan Ozga, COO of NFM, Inc., organized NFM, Inc.’s involvement with the NCADD-MD’s Recovery Classic and is looking forward to continued involvement with NCADD-MD:
“This was a great opportunity to support a great cause and to show how committed NFM, Inc. is to community involvement. Not only does it help to raise awareness about drug and alcohol dependence through NCADD-MD, our participation raises awareness within our own company as well.”
David Silverman, President and CEO of NFM, Inc. commented, “NFM, Inc. is very committed to supporting issues regarding addiction and recovery, especially within our communities. In addition, NFM, Inc. offers an employee assistance program that allows individuals who are dealing with stress, depression, addiction, or any other issue they are encountering, to talk to someone outside of the company confidentially.” NFM, Inc. recognizes the fact that addiction is a disease, not a stigma, moral failing, or lifestyle choice. NCADD-Maryland board chair, David Nelson, said: “We are most grateful to NFM, Inc. for their sponsorship of our event. We appreciate their support for our work and hope that their enlightened approach to addressing alcohol and drug-related issues within their employee ranks will serve as a model for other companies to follow.”
The NCADD-MD Recovery Classic was a great day of golf for all that participated, and NFM, Inc. looks forward to more opportunities to support this inspiring organization.
